>> Rachel: It’s GROSS WEEK on Chompers and we’re talking about the ickiest, the stickiest, and the nastiest stuff. (SFX SPLAT) Today, that stuff is BACTERIA (SFX EWW GROSS)

Do you remember our quiz question from this morning?

What do these FOODS have in common?

Pickles … soy sauce … and olives. (SFX HMM)

The answer is … all of these foods are  made with BACTERIA!  Different types of bacteria are added to pickles, soy sauce and olives, to give them their flavor!

Switch your brushing to the other side of the top of your mouth, and make sure to get those back teeth.

Remember Bacteria? They are those tiny tiny tiny tiny creatures that live everywhere but are too small to see with your eyes.

MOST bacteria are good for humans, like the ones we use to make food. Some bacteria aren’t so great.

Those bacteria are called pathogens. They can make you sick (SFX cough)

Switch your brushing to your bottom teeth, making sure to brush the front, back and the chewing side of each tooth.

Have you ever felt sick and sweaty and hot? (SFX KETTLE) That is your body giving you a fever.

But a fever is actually your body’s way of helping you feel better.

Bacteria often can’t survive in high temperatures, so your body raises the temperature (SFX SLIDE WHISTLE) to kill off the harmful bacteria.

Brush the OTHER side of the bottom of your teeth,  and make sure to cover each tooth with tiny circles allll the way to the back teeth.

And there are other ways to keep bad bacteria away from you! Like, washing your hands!

Washing your hands with soap and hot water keeps bacteria from getting into your eyes, nose, ears or mouth and making you sick

And of course, brushing your teeth gets rid of extra bacteria hanging out in your mouth too (SFX BRUSHING)

Alright you’re all done for today! Nice job brushing! Your teeth are nice and clean and you’re ready for bed.

Come back to Chompers tomorrow morning to get grossed all over again. And don’t forget to
