BRUSH!
It’s Songs Week, And Today we’re learning how to be a sailor! Sailors use special terms to talk about their boats. So today’s song is all about NAUTICAL words -- words about sailing, or the sea!
(Flute verse)
If you’re gonna be a pirate
You’ll have to learn some words
We sailors have some special speak
Some terms we just prefer
(Bassoon verse)
Like the bow (that’s the front)
Like the stern (that’s the back)
Like what’s port and what’s starboard?
They’re the left, and the right
When the boat is facing forward.
(Muted trumpet verse)
(this is a long time to go without lyrics but we could do some talking in here that reminds kids how to brush)
(Flute verse)
If we want to turn the ship right
Yo ho! That’s to starboard
And if we go to the left instead,
Yo ho! That’s towards the port
(Concertina and flute in conversation verse)
And the bow -- is the front
And the stern -- is in the back
And the kitchen is the galley.
And the bathroom’s called the head!
And the bow -- is the front
And the stern -- is in the back
And the kitchen is the galley.
And the bathroom’s called the head!
And the bathroom’s called the head!
(Vamp to outro)
Hey … if you’re brushing your teeth in the bathroom, you’re in the head right now! Thanks for listening to Chompers! We’ll be back with more music tonight! But until then …
