[THEME SONG BEGINS]
>> RACHEL: Good morning, and welcome to Chompers! Your morning and night tooth brushing show.
Start brushing on one side of the top of your mouth, and brush the inside, outside, and chewing side of each tooth.
>> KIDS: 3-2-1 Brush!
[THEME SONG ENDS]
>> RACHEL: It’s Dinosaurs Week, and today we’re playing...
[WHAT’S THAT SOUND? THEME SONG]
>> RACHEL: We don’t REALLY know what dinos sounded like, but it’s fun to imagine. So we will play a sound, and you use your imagination to try to match it to a dinosaur. Here we go!
[PTERODACTYL SCREECH]
>> RACHEL: So, what dinosaur could it be?
[MUSIC BEGINS]
>> GROUP: A Pterodactyl!
>> RACHEL: A Pterodactyl!
Switch your brushing to the other side of the top of your mouth...
[SWITCH BELL]
>> RACHEL: -and don’t forget your molars in the way back.
Pterodactyls were winged reptiles that were about 3 feet long, so about a long as a baseball bat. But Pterodactyls weren’t actually dinosaurs.
>> KIDS: HUH?
>> RACHEL: Dinosaurs were reptiles that lived on land, and since pterodactyls could fly, they are called pterosaurs! That’s because “PTERON” means WING!
>> KIDS: OHH!
>> RACHEL: Switch your brushing to the bottom of your mouth…
[SWITCH BELL]
>> RACHEL: -and brush your front teeth too.
Ready for your next sound?
[BABY CROCODILE CHIRP]
>> RACHEL: So, what dinosaur could it be?
>> GROUP: A Sarcosuchus!
>> RACHEL: A Sarcosuchus.
Switch your brushing to the other side of the bottom of your mouth...
[SWITCH BELL]
>> RACHEL: and give your tongue a brush too.
That sound you heard is a modern day baby crocodile! But the Sarcosuchus was a dinosaur that’s kind of like the great great great great grandfather of the crocs you might see at the zoo. The Sarcosuchus was gigantic, almost the size of a school bus!
[BUS HORN]
>> RACHEL: Other than its size, it looked very much like a crocodile from today!
[THEME SONG BEGINS]
>> RACHEL: Thanks all the time we have today, but come back tomorrow for more clean teeth!
>> KIDS: 3-2-1 Spit!
[THEME SONG ENDS]
>> RACHEL: Chompers is a production of Gimlet Media.
