>> Rachel: Hey there! Let’s get toothbrushing because it’s time for Chompers, your morning and night toothbrushing show.

Start on the top of your mouth, pick a side, and brush all the way to the molars in the back

>> KIDS: 3, 2, 1 brush

>> Rachel: It’s Inventors Week, and tonight we've got more INVENTIVE riddles to get you thinking. Here’s your first one:

This thing uses lights

To tell drivers when to go

Green, red and yellow

Are the colors it can show

What is this thing? Shout it out:

>> GROUP: A TRAFFIC LIGHT

>> Rachel: A traffic light.

Switch your brushing to the other side of the top of your mouth, and brush your front teeth too.

The traffic light helps direct traffic, telling drivers when to go, when to slow down, and when to stop. (SFX MARIO KART LIGHTS)

But it wasn't always this way. Traffic lights used to only have two colors: Red and green. STOP and GO. But this didn't leave drivers enough time to slow down, and was causing car accidents(SFX ACCIDENT) A man named Garrett Morgan realized this, and invented a new system, with a warning light. Thanks to Garrett, now we have yellow lights.

Switch to the bottom of your mouth and keep on brushing

Here’s your next riddle:

This thing is used for babies

To catch their pee or poo

You only use it once

And throw it out when you are through

What is this invention? Shout it out?

>> GROUP: DISPOSABLE DIAPERS

>> Rachel: Disposable diapers!

Switch your brushing to the other side of the bottom of your mouth and brush the inside, outside and chewing side of each tooth

Diapers that you use once and throw away are called disposable diapers. Before their invention, most babies wore cloth diapers that would have to be washed after a baby peed or pooped (SFX YUCK) Plus, if they got totally soaked with pee, they’d get the bed sheets and blankets dirty! That’s a lotta laundry! So Marion Donovan created a waterproof diaper cover to keep the sheets from getting dirty. Her idea led to the creation of paper diapers, and the disposable diapers we use today.

That's it for Chompers tonight, until next time

>> KIDS: 3, 2, 1 spit.
