[EINE KLEINE NACHTMUSIK BEGINS]
>> RACHEL: Was it
Beethoven
Mozart
Or Chopin?

Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart is the famous classical composer who wrote this song! This song is called Eine Kleine Nachtmusik, which means “A Little Serenade”, in German. Serenades are usually songs written about love. So if you love your dog, you can serenade them. Maybe your dog will serenade you back!

[EINE KLEINE NACHTMUSIK ENDS]
>> RACHEL: Switch to the bottom of your mouth...
[SWITCH BELL]
>> RACHEL: -but don’t brush too hard.
Mozart is one of the most famous composers of all time. Remember, composers are people who write pieces of music. But not just classical music is written by composers.
[MUSIC BEGINS]
>> RACHEL: Music on the radio, the music we hear on an elevator, even the lullaby your grownup sings at night, could have been written by a composer. Composers often use a system called musical notation to write down their ideas.
>> KID: HUH?
>> RACHEL: I'll explain after you switch your brushing to the other side of the bottom of your mouth...
[SWITCH BELL]
>> RACHEL: -and brush your front teeth too.
Musical notation is like a musical language, kind of like the alphabet. With musical notation, composers use dots and lines almost like letters, to write down the sounds an instrument makes. Composers will write down the music they’re imagining their head, so that another musician can read it, and play the same music.
