[THEME SONG BEGINS]
>>RACHEL: Welcome back to Chompers! Your morning and night tooth brushing show.
Start brushing on the top of your mouth, and brush the inside, outside, and chewing side of each tooth.
>> KIDS: 3, 2, 1 brush!
[THEME SONG ENDS]
>>RACHEL: It’s Everybody Week, and tonight we’re playing I Spy with things that make the world a bit more accessible.
Ready for your first one?
My friend is sitting in a chair that has wheels, two small ones in front and two large wheels on the back.
[RATTLING OF WHEELS]
>>RACHEL: She pushes the large back wheels with her arms and it makes the chair move forwards, backwards, she can even do a spin move!
[CARTOON SPINNING WHISTLE]
[MUSIC BEGINS]
>>RACHEL: Switch your brushing to the other side of the top of your mouth…
[SWITCH BELL]
>>RACHEL: and don’t forget the molars in the way back.
So, what do I spy? Shout it out.
>>GROUP: A wheelchair!
>>RACHEL: A wheelchair!
Wheelchairs help people move around.
[CARTOON ZOOM!]
>>RACHEL: Some wheelchairs are metal, with big back wheels that people push forward with their hands while they’re sitting.
[WHEELCHAIR RATTLE]
>>RACHEL: If someone uses a wheelchair, it might mean they have trouble walking. But not always! All kinds of people use all types of wheelchairs to help them move around.
[MUSIC ENDS]
Switch your brushing to the bottom of your mouth…
[SWITCH BELL]
>>RACHEL: -and brush your front teeth too.
Ready for your next I Spy?
[CLASSROOM AMBIANCE]
>>RACHEL: I see a classroom full of students doing an art project. All the kids are working together as the teacher walks around the room.
And I see another grown up sitting next to one student, and they are drawing a line together. It looks like this grown up is there to help this student.
[MUSIC BEGINS]
>>RACHEL: Switch your brushing to the other side of the bottom of your mouth…
[SWITCH BELL]
>>RACHEL: -and keep brushing.
So, who is this other grown up in the class? Who do I spy?
>>GROUP: a Paraprofessional!
>>RACHEL: A Paraprofessional!
>>KID: HUH?
>>RACHEL: A paraprofessional is a grown up, like a teacher, who works one on one with a student who learns differently.
>>KID: OH!
>>RACHEL: Some people might need extra help to complete a project or understand a lesson. A paraprofessional will often work with one student for their whole day to make sure they get the help they need.
[MUSIC ENDS]
