>> Rachel: Welcome back to Chompers, your morning and night toothbrushing show!

It’s gross week on Chompers so we’ve been learning about all sorts of slimy, stinky, sticky, icky GROSS stuff.

Tonight, we have an answer to the riddle we gave you this morning.

But first, pick a side on the top of your mouth and get ready to brush the inside, outside, and chewing side of EACH of your teeth.

>> KIDS: 3,2,1 brush!

(SFX FART)

Here’s that riddle from this morning:

I’m heavier than a piano

With skin that’s thick and rough

I swim in African rivers

And only eat green stuff

What animal is this?

>> KIDS: A HIPPOPOTAMUS

>> Rachel: Hippopotamus!

Hippos are one of the biggest creatures on earth, and mostly hang out in the rivers and lakes of Africa.

Switch your brushing to the other side of the top of your mouth.  Make sure not to brush tooooo hard though.

So why are we talking about hippos during GROSS week?

It’s because hippos have a yucky habit of flinging their POOP.  (SFX SPLAT)

Hippos like to use their tails to fling poop at each other.  When a hippo starts to poop, it will shake its tail back and forth, spraying poop everywhere. (SFX YUCK!)

Switch your brushing to the bottom of your mouth, and make sure you’re reaching allllllll the way back to your molars!

Ready for another riddle? Here we go!

Giant, small or Hissing

This bug is quite the pest

They love to eat up garbage

And your kitchens they infest

>> KIDS: COCKROACH

>> Rachel: Cockroaches are bugs that can eat almost anything. That’s why they love trash; Cockroaches can eat rotten food, toothpaste, even glue.

Switch to the other side of the bottom of your mouth and keep brushing in circles on each tooth!

Cockroaches also have super strong bodies., Touch your elbow. Feel the hard bones there? (SFX XYLOPHONE)  Imagine if instead of having bones INSIDE, your whole body was covered with bones on the outside,(SFX XYLOPHONE)

That’s what a cockroach has -- it’s called an exo-skeleton. (SFX HUH?)  Exo means “on the outside”, And skeleton means your bones.

Exo-skeleton means “a skeleton on the outside.”

You’re all done brushing! But come back to Chompers tomorrow for more gross stuff

Now,

>>KIDS: 3, 2, 1 spit!
