>> Rachel: We’re starting Oceans Week with a splash, by giving you this deep sea quiz (SFX QUIZ)
How DEEP is the DEEPEST part of the ocean?
Is it:
3,000 feet, deep enough to cover the world's tallest building
23,000 feet, deep enough to cover the world’s tallest volcano
Or 36,000 feet, deep enough to cover Mount Everest, the world's highest mountain
To figure it out, lets learn more about the watery depths of the oceans.
Switch your brushing to the other side of top of your mouth, and brush the inside, outside, and chewing side of each tooth
Oceans are what we call the large bodies of water. And boy, are they large! The oceans cover MOST of our planet! Earth is covered by 5 oceans: The Pacific, Atlantic, Indian, Arctic, and Antarctic Oceans. But really, all those oceans are connected to each other, so you could say that the earth only has one GIGANTIC ocean that goes all the way around the earth.
Switch to the bottom of your mouth, and brush all the way to the molars in the back
The Pacific Ocean is the biggest of the 5 oceans. It goes from Australia ALLLLL the way to California. The Pacific ocean is also where you find the islands of Hawaii. Some of the cool creatures that live in the Pacific Ocean are great white sharks, blue whales, and dolphins, which sound like this (SFX DOLPHIN)
Switch to the other side of the bottom of your mouth, and don’t forget those front teeth too.
So now that we know a little more about the ocean, it’s time for you to make a guess:
