[THEME SONG BEGINS]

>> RACHEL: Welcome back, it's time for Chompers, your morning and night toothbrushing show.

Start brushing on the top of your mouth on one side, and brush the inside, outside and chewing side of each tooth.

>> KIDS: 3, 2, 1 brush!

[THEME SONG ENDS]

>> RACHEL: It’s Senses Week and tonight we’ve got more sensational jokes.

Here’s your first one:

Why do hands hate wearing gloves?

>> KIDS: Why?

>> RACHEL: Because gloves make them out of touch!

[RIMSHOT]

>> KIDS: Huh?

>> RACHEL: I’ll explain after you Switch your brushing to the other side of the top of your mouth…

[SWITCH BELL]

>> RACHEL: -and don’t forget those front teeth!

To be out of touch means to be disconnected…

[PHONE BEEPS]

>> RACHEL: Like, you don’t know what’s goin’ on! And TOUCH is a sense that connects us to the outside world. We touch with our skin. And we like to touch things with our hands! But, when you’re wearing gloves you can’t feel anything, so you are out of touch!

Switch your brushing to the bottom of your mouth…

[SWITCH BELL]

>> RACHEL: -and give your tongue a brush too.

[MUSIC ENDS]

>> RACHEL: Here’s another joke:

What do taste, sight, touch, smell, and hearing have in common with a nickel?

>> KID: What?

>> RACHEL: They’re 5 sense!

[RIMSHOT AND LAUGHTER]

[MUSIC BEGINS]

>> RACHEL: In the United States, a nickel is the name of the coin that’s 5 cents.

[COINS]

>> RACHEL: -but thats Cents: c-e-n-t-s, not sense: s-e-n-s-e. Cents with a C is for money, Sense with an S like our 5 basic senses.

>> RACHEL: Switch your brushing to the other side of the bottom of your mouth…

[SWITCH BELL]

>> RACHEL: -but don’t brush TOO hard.

Here’s one last joke:

Why did the five basic senses desperately want to find a penny?

>> KIDS: Why?

>> RACHEL: Because they wanted a sixth cent!

[RIMSHOT]

>> RACHEL: Get it! Because a penny is a cent!  And it sounds like the word sense. You know Five basic senses plus one penny equals … SIX SENSES!

People sometimes talk about a “sixth sense” -- something other than sight, hearing, touch, taste or smell.

[MUSIC ENDS]

[THEME SONG BEGINS]

And that’s what WE’RE going to talk about tomorrow on Chompers -- what SENSE you wish you had!  But first …

>> KIDS: 3-2-1 SPIT!

[THEME SONG ENDS]

>> RACHEL: Chompers is a production of Gimlet Media.
