Mechanical clocks have been around for hundreds of years, helping humans tell the time. But the person remembered for building the first clock in the United States was a man named Benjamin Banneker.
Benjamin was a farmer, scientist and mathematician who lived in the 1700’s. He not only built America’s first chiming clock, he also helped design the nation's capital, Washington DC.
Switch to the bottom of your mouth, and brush your front teeth too.

(SFX YUCK) So he tried slicing the potatoes extra thin, and frying them for a long time. Voila! (SFX TADA) The potato chip was born!
