>> Rachel: Good morning! It’s time for Chompers, you twice daily toothbrushing show!

Start brushing on the top of your mouth, and brush in little circles around each tooth

>> Kids: 3, 2, 1, brush!

>> Rachel: It’s Pets Week! And today we’ve got some I Spies for you. That means I’ll describe a PET and you have to guess what it is!

Here’s your first one:

I see something long and slithery. It has yellow scaly skin, and I see its whole body curled up in a big circle. It has a tongue that it keeps flicking in and out of its mouth.

What do I spy? What pet is this?

Find out after you switch your brushing to the other side of the top of your mouth but don’t brush too hard.

That pet was…

>> Group: A Snake!

>> Rachel: A snake!

There are more than three THOUSAND different types of snakes, and some of them make really cool pets.  Corn snakes, Garter snakes and Ball Pythons are some of the most popular types of snakes to keep as pets, because they don’t grow TOO big, and they come in lots of colors. Boa Constrictors are one of the BIGGEST snakes that people keep as a pet, and it can grow to over 13 feet long. (SFX STRETCH) That’s bigger than two grown ups!!

Switch to the bottom of your mouth, and brush the inside, outside and chewing side of each tooth.

Here’s another I Spy:

I see an animal peeking its head out of a hard, green shell. It’s moving VERY slowly through its cage, crawling on its scaly legs before darting its head out and eating a crunchy cricket (SFX CHOMP)

What pet do I spy? Shout it out:

(PAUSE)

>> Group: A TURTLE

>> Rachel: Switch your brushing to the other side of the bottom of your mouth, and don’t forget the molars in the back

Turtles may not be speedy (SFX PEW) but they are pretty needy! Turtles need complicated setups to live with humans, like big tanks, special lighting, and they can live for a LONG time. Some pet turtles live to be FIFTY years old! So.. It’s a lot to think about before you get a turtle!

That’s it for Chompers today, but come back tonight for more impressive pets! Until then,

>> KIDS: 3, 2, 1 spit!
