>> Rachel: It’s History Week. And today our imaginary time machine is taking us to explore the history of ASIA!

Time to time travel!

[TIME MACHINE LANDS]

>> Rachel: I’ve landed thousands of years ago in China! I spy thousands of people working hard at building a wall. Actually, it’s more than just a wall--it’s kind of like a wall with road on top of it, with small towers all along. This wall seems pretty long, so long that I can’t see where it begins or where it ends!

So time machine what is this wall?

>> TIME MACHINE: The Great Wall of China!

>> Rachel: Switch to the other side of the top of your mouth…

[SWITCH BELL]

>> Rachel: -and keep brushing.

It took thousands of people and a couple thousand years to build the Great Wall of China. The first emperor of China, Qin Shi Huang, started working on the wall to protect his Empire from invaders.  Emperors who ruled China after Qin Shi Huang made the wall longer and longer and longer until it became the longest thing humans have ever built.

Some parts of the wall still exist today, and people travel from all around the world to see it!

>> Rachel: Switch to the bottom of your mouth…

[SWITCH BELL]

>> Rachel: -and brush the molars in the way back.

Let’s jump back in our time machine:

I’m still in China! I see a man l teaching a group of younger people, and telling them, “What you do not want done to yourself, do not do to others.”

So time machine, who is this teacher? Who do I spy?

>> TIME MACHINE: Confucius!

>> Rachel: Confucius!!

Switch your brushing to the other side of the bottom of your mouth…

[SWITCH BELL]

>> Rachel: -but don't brush too hard.

Confucius was a Chinese teacher. He taught a lot about “ren”, which means kindness. He wanted people to take care of their family and respect others people.

His students wrote a book about what they learned from Confucius.it’s called The Analects. People still read The Analects today to learn about how to live a good life.

[THEME SONG BEGINS]
