>> Rachel: Hey Chompions! It’s time for Chompers, your morning and night toothbrushing show.
Start brushing on the top of your mouth on one side, and brush in little circles around each tooth
>> Kids: 3, 2, 1 brush!
>> Rachel: It’s Bugs Week and tonight we have more True or False for you. If you think what we say is true give us a thumbs up. For false, thumb down.
Here’s your first one:
Male mosquitoes bite humans to scare them away.
So, what do you think? Do male mosquitoes bite humans to scare them away?
Ready for the answer?
First, switch your brushing to the other side of the top of your mouth, and give your tongue a brush too.
(Switch Bell)
>> Rachel: The answer is… False!
Male mosquitoes don’t bite to scare away humans. Male mosquitoes don’t bite at all! Male mosquitoes drink flower nectar.
Only female mosquitoes bite, and when they do, it’s to drink up blood that they need to make eggs, so they can make lots of baby mosquitoes.
Switch to the bottom of your mouth, and brush the molars in the way back.
(Switch Bell)
>> Rachel: Here’s another true or false:
Scorpions have been around longer than people
So what do you think? True or False?
The answer is … True! Scorpions are really old bugs! They've been around for over 400 MILLION years!
Switch to the other side of the bottom of your mouth, and don’t forget your front teeth!
(Switch Bell)
>> Rachel: Scorpions can be found almost everywhere on earth. The only place with no scorpions is ANTARCTICA, the very bottom of our planet, where the weather is too cold for most animals to live.
That's it for Chompers tonight, but we’ll have more bug facts for you tomorrow. Until then, rinse with water before you…
>> Kids: 3, 2, 1 spit!
