[THEME SONG BEGINS]

>>RACHEL: Hi folks, it’s time for Chompers, your morning and night tooth brushing show.

Start brushing on the top of your mouth, pick a side, and make tiny circles around each tooth.

3-2-1 brush!

[THEME SONG ENDS]

>>RACHEL: It’s School Week, and today we have some I Spies for you to study. I’m going to describe someone who works at a school, and you have to try and guess who they are.

I see a grown up who works in a special room at school. There’s drawers that are full of bandages and ice packs. This grown up is helping a student put a bandage on their scraped knee. They make sure this student is feeling better before sending them back to class.

Switch your brushing to the other side of the top of your mouth…

[SWITCH BELL]

>>RACHEL: -and don’t forget to brush your front teeth!

So, who is this grown up? Who do I spy?

>>GROUP: A School Nurse!

>>RACHEL: A school nurse.

A school nurse is someone who works at a school and helps students who feel sick or get hurt. They can help give you a bandaid if you scrape your knee at recess,

[OUCH]

>>RACHEL: or give you a place to lie down if you have a stomach ache.

[BURP]

>>RACHEL: A school nurse might also give students a vision test to see if they need glasses, check their hearing, or help you if you lose a tooth!

Switch your brushing to the other side of the bottom of your mouth…

[SWITCH BELL]

>>RACHEL: -and keep on brushing.

Ready for your next I Spy?

I see a grown up in a small room, with only a couple chairs in it. They are talking to one kid, who looks like they’re upset. This kid tells the grown up how they are feeling, and the grown up tells them ways that they might try to feel better. The kid looks happy, and the grown up sends them back to class.

So who is this grown up? Who do I spy?

>>GROUP: A school counselor!

>>RACHEL: A school counselor.

Switch your brushing to the other side of the bottom of your mouth…

[SWITCH BELL]

>>RACHEL: -and don’t brush to hard.

A school counselor is someone whose job is to help students feel safe and happy. Counselors can do all sorts of things, like help two students who are fighting talk to each other…

>>KID: Sorry!

>>RACHEL: ...talk to students when they feel sad or scared, and even help students think about what they want to be when they grow up!

>>KID: A DENTIST!

>>RACHEL: Most schools in the United States have a nurse and a counselor, so it’s important to know that there’s always a grown up to talk to if something’s not quite right.

[THEME SONG BEGINS]

>>RACHEL: But you can’t talk to anyone with a mouth full of toothpaste! So it’s time to...

>>KIDS: 3-2-1 Spit!
