>> RACHEL: Good morning! it’s time for Chompers! Your morning and night toothbrushing show
Start brushing on the top of your mouth, and make little circles with your brush around each tooth
>> KIDS: 3, 2, 1 brush!!
>> RACHEL: It’s Geography week, and today we’re playing: WHAT’S THAT SOUND (SFX)
We’ll play a sound from somewhere on earth, and you have to guess what it is. Here’s your first one:
SFX: Crackling
>> RACHEL: What was that? Here it is one more time:
SFX: Crackling
>> RACHEL: So what’s that sound? Shout it out.
(3 second pause)
>> GROUP: A Wildfire!
>> RACHEL: Switch to the other side of the top of your mouth, and brush all the way to the back.
A wildfire is a really big fire outside. It might be in a forest or in a field. In some places, fire can actually be a good thing
SFX HUH?
>> RACHEL: because it makes room for new trees and plants to grow. But if there are people living nearby, a wildfire can be really dangerous and hurtful,
SFX YIKES!
>> RACHEL: and firefighters have to work really hard to put them out. (SFX Hose)
Switch your brushing to the bottom of your mouth, and brush your front teeth too.
OK, here’s your next sound:
SFX Sloppy slop
>> RACHEL: What was that? Here it is one more time:
SFX Sloppy slop
>> RACHEL: So what’s that sound? Shout it out!
(3 second pause)
>> GROUP: A MUD POT!
>> RACHEL: Switch to the other side of the bottom of your mouth, but don’t brush too hard.
Mud pots happen when there is hot gas inside the earth. The gas heats up water - kind of like an underground tea kettle. (SFX Tea Kettle) Sometimes, the hot water comes up to the surface, and mixes with soil. And voila! (SFX Splat) A hot boiling pot of mud! Sometimes, mud pots can be really smelly too - they smell like rotten eggs! (SFX Crack - Yuck!) So if you ever see one, don’t get too close!
You’re all done brushing for today. Come back tonight for more What's That Sound. Until then
>> KIDS: 3, 2, 1 spit!
