>> RACHEL: Hi Chompions! It’s time for more Chompers, your morning and night toothbrushing show.
Start on the top of your mouth on one side, and brush the inside, outside, and chewing side of each tooth.
>> KIDS: 3, 2, 1 brush!
>> RACHEL: It’s Feelings Week, and tonight we have more I spy for you! I’ll describe a feeling and you have to guess what it is!
Here's your first one:
I’m on a bus. It’s packed with girls from a soccer team, and they’re heading to a really important game. Some of the girls are cheering. (SFX singing or cheering) But others are not. They look quite serious and quiet. One is gazing out the window. Another one is chewing her fingernails.
How do you think these girls feel?
>> GROUP: NERVOUS!
>> RACHEL: Find out after you switch your brushing to the other side of the top of your mouth, and brush the molars in the back, too.
Feeling nervous is kind of like feeling anxious. When we feel nervous or anxious, our body might feel tight, our stomach might feel twisted (SFX stomach rumble), and we might feel like something very heavy has been put on our shoulders. (SFX impact)
We feel nervous or anxious when we think about something that is going to happen, and worry about how it will turn out. Like an exam or a soccer game! When we feel nervous, we can slowly breathe deeply in (SFX) and out (SFX), to try and calm down our bodies.
Switch to the bottom of your mouth, but don’t brush too hard.
Here’s your next I Spy:
I see a boy plunging his spoon into some yummy soup. (SFX Slurp) He’s making a funny face - his eyebrows are down, his nose is all wrinkly, and the corners of his mouth are turning down. Well, OK, now he’s sticking out his tongue and walking away! But why? Oh there is a FLY in the soup! (SFX YUK)
So how is this boy feeling?
>> GROUP: Disgusted!
>> RACHEL: Switch your brushing to the other side of the bottom of your mouth, and brush your front teeth, too.
Feeling disgust over something - or feeling disgusted - is a strong feeling. It happens when something really unpleasant happens. It can be so UNpleasant that we feel like we want to get away from it. (SFX scream / run) It might even make us feel sick to our stomach! (SFX) Like finding a FLY in our soup! (SFX fly / yuk)
That’s it for Chompers today. So it’s time to
>> KIDS: 3, 2, 1 spit!
