>> Rachel: This week on Chompers we’re talking about MONEY! (SFX CHA-CHING)
And we’re starting money week with a QUIZ! (SFX QUIZ)
Which of these is a TYPE of money?
Is a QUETZAL a type of money?
Is a DALASI a type of money?
Or
Is a RUPEE a type of money?
To figure it out, let’s learn more about money!
But first, switch your brushing to the other side of the top of your mouth and keep brushing.
Money is what we use to buy things. When you go to the store and your grown-up gets you a popsicle, they giverrr the store money to BUY the popsicle.
But there are lots of WAYS to buy things.
You can buy things using CASH … those are the bills and coins that grownups keep in a wallet or purse.
You can also buy things using a credit or debit card. That’s the plastic card that your grownup hands to the cashier -- the person who works for the store.
Switch to the bottom of your mouth, and brush the molars in the way back.
People use money all over the world .. but everyone has different NAMES for their money,
For example, in the United States, we buy things using DOLLARS. The cashier will say to your grownup, “ok, this popsicle costs two dollars.”
But in other countries, the cashier will say something else.
For example, in France, the cashier will say “ok, this popsicle costs one EURO.”
That’s because in France, their money is named the EURO.
Switch to the other side of the bottom of your mouth, and brush your front teeth too.
So now that we know a little more about money, it’s time to make a choice.
