>> Rachel: It’s In Charge Week, and tonight we’ve got the answer to the quiz from this morning.
Our question was:
Which of these people is not in charge of a group?
The president of a country? (SFX crowd cheering)
The chef of a restaurant? (SFX chef’s order)
OR
The captain of a boat? (SFX captain saying hi)
Ready for the answer? Give me a drumroll by stomping your feet. (SFX Drumroll)
The answer is… TRICK QUESTION! They’re ALL in charge of a group. (SFX WHAT?)
I’ll tell you more after you switch your brushing to the other side of the top of your mouth, and give your tongue a brush, too!
The president of a country, the chef of a restaurant, the captain of a boat - those jobs are all really different, but each of them is a leader in charge of a group. The president of a country is in charge of the government of a country -- that’s the people who keep things running. A chef is in charge of everyone working in their kitchen, and the captain is in charge of all the people on the boat.
Switch your brushing to the bottom of your mouth, and brush the molars in the way back, too.
So how do people end up being in charge? Well, it can happen in different ways. The President of a country is often elected. That means that people VOTE for who they want to be in charge.
Other times, people end up in charge because they start a business, like a shop. For example, a chef might decide to open their own restaurant, so they get to decide what to cook and how to run their kitchen.
Switch to the other side of the bottom of your mouth, and don’t brush too hard.
And sometimes people like the Captain of a ship become the person in charge after spending lots of time working on a ship. A captain often has experience doing all the jobs that exist on a ship, so they know what it takes to sail safely and be in charge the whole crew.
That’s it for Chompers today, but come back tomorrow to see what else you can be in charge of! Until then,
