[THEME SONG BEGINS]

>> RACHEL: Good morning, and welcome to Chompers! Your morning and night tooth brushing show.

Start brushing on the top of your mouth on one side, and make little circles with your brush around each tooth.

>> KIDS: 3, 2, 1 BRUSH!

[THEME SONG ENDS]

>> RACHEL: It’s Body Systems week, and today, we’re playing I Spy! I’ll describe something, and you have to try and guess what body system we’re talking about. Are you ready?

Here’s your first one.

I spy something in the corner of a science classroom. It’s made of bones, and it has arms, legs, and a head on top.

So, what do I spy? Shout it out!

[MUSIC BEGINS]

>> GROUP: A Skeleton!

>> RACHEL: A skeleton.

[SWITCH BELL]

>> RACHEL: Switch your brushing to the other side of the top of your mouth, and brush your front teeth too.

A skeleton is what we call all the bones that make up the human body!

[MARIMBA]

>> RACHEL: Those bones can also be called the skeletal system, because they all work together. We have over 200 bones inside our bodies.

>> KID: WOW.

>> RACHEL:  Some bones protect the softer parts inside our bodies, like our hearts and lungs, while other bones, like the ones in our legs, help us stand up and move around.

Switch your brushing to the bottom of your mouth, and don’t forget your molars in the way back.

[MUSIC ENDS]

>> RACHEL:  Here’s your next I Spy:

I’m looking at the OUTSIDE of a person. This thing that I spy is ALL OVER them. Their entire body is covered by this one organ! It can come in all shapes, sizes and colors, but its job is always the same: to protect what’s inside the body.

What do I see? What body part is this?

[MUSIC BEGINS]

>> GROUP: Skin!

>> RACHEL:  Skin!

Switch your brushing to the other side of the bottom of your mouth…

[SWITCH BELL]

>> RACHEL:  and keep brushing.

Skin is what we call the layers on the outside of a person’s body, and it has a specific job: to protect the inside of the body!

[ARMOUR SOUND]

>> RACHEL:  The skin is part of a body system called the IN-TEG-U-MEN-TARY system, which protects our bodies from different types of damage.

But we need to help protect our skin by being careful with what we do.

>> KID: Huh?

>> RACHEL: Like, when it’s sunny outside, we wear SUNSCREEN -- to protect our skin!

[MUSIC ENDS]

[THEME SONG BEGINS]

>> RACHEL: That’s it for Chompers this morning, but come back tonight for more I Spy! And don’t forget to…

>> KIDS: 3-2-1 Spit!

[THEME SONG ENDS]

>> RACHEL:  Chompers is a production of Gimlet Media.
