[THEME SONG BEGINS]

>>RACHEL: Rise and shine! It’s time for Chompers, your morning and night toothbrushing show.

Start brushing on the top of your mouth on one side…

[SWITCH BELL]

>>RACHEL: and brush all the way to the molars in the back.

>>KIDS: 3, 2, 1 brush!

>>RACHEL: It’s Teeth Week, and today we’ve got some true or false for you. I’ll say something, and if you think it’s true, give us a thumbs up.

[DING!]

>>RACHEL: If you think it’s false, give us a thumbs down.

[BUZZER]

>>RACHEL: Here’s your first true or false.

If you added up all the times you brushed your teeth, it would add up to 34 days.

So is that true or false?

Does a person spend about 34 full days brushing their teeth in their lifetime?

[MUSIC BEGINS]

>>RACHEL: Find out after you switch to the other side of the top of your mouth, and brush the inside, outside, and chewing side of each tooth.

The answer is… TRUE!

[DING!]

>>RACHEL: TRUE, in the United States that is.

American people brush their teeth for about 2 minutes twice a day their entire life. And if you add it up, that’s like more than 50,000 minutes.

>>KID: HUH?

>>RACHEL: Or about 34 full days. Which is more than a MONTH! So a lot of us spend a month of our life brushing our teeth! Good thing we’ve got Chompers to make it fun.

[MUSIC ENDS]

>>RACHEL: Switch to the bottom of your mouth,

[SWITCH BELL]

>>RACHEL: -and keep on brushing

Here’s your next true or false:

There are more bacteria in a person’s mouth than there are people on Earth.

So is that true or false? Are there more bacteria in the mouth of one person than there are people on Earth?

[MUSIC BEGINS]

>>RACHEL: The answer is… TRUE!

>>KID: WHAT?

>>RACHEL: Switch to the other side of the bottom of your mouth…

[SWITCH BELL]

>>RACHEL:  and give your tongue a brush, too.

There are over 7 BILLION humans on Earth. Which is a LOT. But scientists think that humans have between 20 and 100 BILLION tiny, tiny, tiny, invisible bacteria living in our mouth!

[SCREAM]

>>RACHEL: But don’t worry! Most of them are totally okay to have.

[SIGH]

>>RACHEL: And brushing your teeth helps knock out the bad ones!

[MUSIC ENDS]

[THEME SONG BEGINS]

>>RACHEL: So it’s important to come back tonight for more brushing and more True or False on Chompers.

Until then…

>>KIDS: 3, 2, 1 spit!

[THEME SONG ENDS]

>>RACHEL: Chompers is a production of Gimlet Media.
