>> Rachel: Good Morning! Welcome to Chompers, your morning and night toothbrushing show!

This week we’re exploring something NEW.

It’s . . . (SFX DRUMROLL) GROSS! Week! (SFX KIDS EWWWW)

We’re going to be talking about all sorts of slimy, stinky, sticky, icky GROSS stuff.  And today we’ve got a QUIZ for you.

But first --  Got your toothbrush ready? Pick a side on the top of your mouth and make sure you’re brushing all the way to your back teeth!

>>KIDS: THREE, TWO, ONE BRUSH!

>> Rachel: Alright, ready for the quiz? Here it is:

Which animal eats its own poop? (SFX YUCK!)

Is it:

Snakes (SFX HISS/RATTLE)

Rabbits OR (SFX SPROING)

Pigeons? (SFX COO)

To help you think about the answer, let’s learn a little more about each animal.

But first, switch your brushing to the other side of the top of your mouth (SFX SWITCH).  Make sure you’re brushing the outside, inside, and chewing side of each tooth.

First, snakes. Snakes can be found all over the world.

Last week we learned about a snake’s JAW -- which helps snakes open their mouths up super wide.  Wide enough that they can swallow their food whole, in one big gulp (SFX GULP)

Since snakes eat their food whole, if what the snake is trying to eat is REALLY big, swallowing it whole could take an HOUR. (SFX TICKING CLOCK)

Switch your brushing to the bottom of your mouth. (SFX SWITCH) Pick a side and keep making circles with your toothbrush.

Next, rabbits! Rabbits eat plants like grass, wild flowers and vegetables like carrots (SFX CARROT CRUNCH).

Rabbits live together in groups called colonies and they have lots (SFX SPROING) and lots (SFX SPROING SPROING)and LOTS (SFX SPROING SPROING SPROING)of babies. Bunny rabbits can have over 100 baby bunnies in a year! (SFX SPROING x 8)

Now let’s learn about pigeons!

But first switch your brushing to the other half of the bottom of your mouth. Make sure you’re brushing the inside, the outside, and the chewing side of each tooth.

Pigeons are SMART. They remember where they live, so people used to use them to send MESSAGES to each other.  Pigeons can EVEN learn the alphabet -- just like you!

Now that you know a little more about each animal, it’s time to decide:

Which animal eats its own poop?

Is it

Snakes (SFX HISS)

Rabbits (SFX BOINK BOINK) OR

Pigeons? (SFX COO COO)

Come back to Chompers tonight to get grossed out by the answer, and, before you go…

>> KIDS: 3, 2, 1 spit!
