>> Rachel: It’s Sounds Week, and today we’re hearing from you Chompions.

We asked what it SOUNDS LIKE where you live. And it sounds like y’all live in all kinds of great places from big cities to far out in the country. So let’s HEAR what it sounds like where you live!

Korbin hears eagles (SFX), bears (SFX) and dogs barking at the bears and deer (SFX).

Dexter says he lives in the countryside so he sometimes hears birds singing. There is a train track nearby so he hears the trains pass by. (SFX)

Duncan hears tui birds (SFX) and pukeko birds (SFX). He says he also hears the pigs grunting for food and the neighbor’s pet sheep Gum Gum when she comes to the fence and grazes at lemons on his tree! Duncan, it sounds like you have more animals around you than humans!  That might be because Duncan lives in a country called New Zealand!

Switch your brushing to the other side of the top of your mouth, and brush the molars in the way back too.

A lot of other Chompions hear sounds from the country.

Blake can hear goats and chickens outside of his house. He also hears tractors mowing and cars driving. And when all of this noise quiets down he hears the leaves rustling.

Switch to the bottom of your mouth, but don’t brush too hard.

Lorelai hears the wind blowing, dogs barking, chickens clucking (SFX), tractors in the field and trains whistling. (SFX)

Aanya says she hears birds and nothing else!

Ian also hears birds singing. He says it’s peaceful. He can hear the snow falling, and then falling off of the big pine tree.

Thad says he can hear the wind whistling through the trees, the branches cracking and the birds singing.

Switch to the other side of the bottom of your mouth, and brush your front teeth too.

Genny hears “a little bit of cars”. (SFX) And “a little bit of birds”. Like the Ospreys by the river, hummingbirds at the flowers, and cooing doves in the trees. (SFX)

And Henry can hear Seagulls (SFX)  and the ocean’s waves (SFX waves). And in the spring, he hears the oystercatchers -- a type of bird -- coming by to lay their eggs.

Come back tonight for more great sounds, and until then,

>> KIDS: 3, 2, 1 spit!
