It’s Mythical Creatures week, and we’re talking about all kinds of imaginary creatures from legends and myths!

Pick a side on the top of your mouth, and make little circles with your brush all the way around each tooth.

>> KIDS: 3, 2, 1 Brush!

>> Rachel: Remember, mythical creatures are made-up animals in make-believe stories. And tonight we have a quiz for you about a HYBRID mythical creature.

HYBRID mythical creatures are a MIX of animals that make up a whole new IMAGINARY animal. Like Mermaids. Mermaids are a MIX of humans and fish!

Switch your brushing to the other side of the top of your mouth. And don’t forget those front teeth!

Today’s QUIZ is about a hybrid creature called the HIPPOCAMPUS. A hippoPOTAMUS? No! A hippoCAMPUS.

A hippocampus is made up of two different animals. It’s half fish and half what other animal?

Is a hippocampus ….

Half fish and half horse

Half fish and half lion

Or Half fish and half bird

Switch your brushing to the bottom of your mouth but don’t brush too hard!

I’ll give you the question again. Raise your hand up high when you hear your guess.

Is a hippocampus:

Half fish and half horse

Half fish and half lion

Or Half fish and half bird

Ready for the answer?

The answer is ... half fish and - half HORSE. The hippocampus has an upper body of a horse and the tail of a fish.

Switch to the other side of the bottom of your mouth, and give your tongue a brush too!

The HIPPOCAMPUS is a mythical creature from GREEK MYTHOLOGY.  Remember, stories from “Greek Mythology” are about made-up heroes, gods, monsters and magical creatures from the country of Greece.

A long time ago Greeks used the word “hippo” for “horse!” So if you guessed a hippocampus was half fish and half “horse,” it looks like you speak a little Greek!

That’s it for Chompers tonight. But before you head off to sleep happily ever after, don’t forget to
