Transportation Week Night Quiz (11-14-2022)

>> Rachel: Welcome back to Chompers, your morning and night toothbrushing show. Ready to find out the answer to today’s quiz?

>> KIDS: Yeah!

>> Rachel: Well then we better start brushing! Get your toothbrush ready and start on the top of your mouth on one side, and don’t brush too hard!

>> KIDS: 3, 2, 1 brush! 

>> Rachel: In this morning’s quiz, we wanted to know: 


Which of these trains is as fast as some airplanes?

When you hear the answer you picked, raise your hand way up high!

A steam engine train (SFX TOOT TOOT)

A subway train (SFX SUBWAY ) 


A Maglev train (SFX HOVERING)

The answer is (SFX DRUMROLL) … a Maglev train can go almost 400 miles an hour, which is faster than some airplanes! (SFX KIDS WOW) 

Switch your brushing to the other side of the top of your mouth and make sure to brush the inside, outside and the chewing side of each tooth.

This morning we learned Maglev trains are powered by MAGNETS 

So MAGLEV trains use the power of magnets to “levitate.” Which means to is to float in the air. 

Magnets can either snap together, or push apart! 

But how do magnets really work?

What makes magnets stick together or push apart is a part of the magnet called the POLE.

Switch your brushing to the bottom of your mouth, and keep brushing in small circles all around your teeth. 

All magnets have TWO poles. A North Pole (SFX D NOTE), and a South Pole (SFX C NOTE).  

If you take two magnets and try to put their NORTH poles together, those magnets will PUSH away from each other (SFX WRONG BUZZER). They won’t stick together no matter what you try!

The same thing happens if you try to put the south pole side of two magnets together.  They’ll push away! (WRONG BUZZER) 

Switch your brushing to the other side of the bottom of your mouth and make sure to brush all the way back to those molars!

So how DO magnets stick?

Well, if you put one magnet’s north pole (SFX D NOTE) against another magnet’s south pole (SFX C NOTE) 

Bingo! (SFX DING-DONG) Those magnets will pull together.  (SFX DING-DONG)
