Where to Listen

>> Rachel: Gooood morning! It’s time for Chompers, your morning and night toothbrushing show.

Start brushing on the top of your mouth. Pick a side, and brush in little circles around each tooth.

>>KIDS: 3, 2, 1 brush!

>> Rachel: It’s BUGS week, and today We're gonna play I Spy and make your brain buzz!

>> Rachel: Here’s your first one:

I see a long green stem -- and at the end of the stem theres a wide green leaf...oh no wait, when I look closely I realize ... that’s a bug! You could have fooled me! But when I squint it has two big eyes, far apart on its face, and two bent arms, raised up high.

What kind of bug do I spy? Find out after you... Switch to the other side of the top of your mouth, and brush the molars in the way back too.

>> Rachel: The answer is..

>>Group: A Praying Mantis!

>> Rachel: Praying Mantis are masters of CAMOUFLAGE.

>> Rachel: Camouflage means blending in with whats around you. That's why it looked like a leaf at first! Mantids that live in trees are usually green to look like leaves. Mantids that live on the ground can be brown with spots, to look like dried leaves or twigs.

Switch to the bottom of your mouth, and brush your front teeth too.

(Switch Bell)

>> Rachel: Here’s another I Spy:

I see a bug crawling on the ground. Its big and brown, with a long flat body and two antenna sticking out of its head. But this bug is making a noise like a snake, like this:  SFX

I think it's trying to scare me off!

What bug do I spy? Shout it out!

>> Rachel: Switch to the other side of the bottom of your mouth, and brush the inside, outside and chewing side of each tooth.

(Switch Bell)

>> Rachel: Hissing cockroaches come from an island next to Africa called Madagascar, and from other places nearby . The Madagascar hissing cockroach can grow to be pretty big, about as big as a grown up's finger! They make their famous hissing sound when they feel threatened, and want to tell another animal to back off.

That’s it for Chompers today. We hope you will BEE back for more bugs week tonight. Until then, rinse before you…

>>KIDS: 3, 2, 1 spit!
