>> Rachel: It’s Grosser Week, and today we’ve got some awesomely icky true or false for you. We’ll say something, and you have to decide if it's true (SFX) or false (SFX).
Here’s your first one:
Chickens, ducks and Turkeys are fowl.
So what do you think? Are they fowl?
The answer is… true (SFX).
Switch your brushing to the other side of the top of your mouth, and brush those molars in the way back too.
When we say something is foul, we’re usually talking about something gross or disgusting. Like after a smelly burp (SFX burp/yuck!) you might say “OOF! That burp was FOUL!”
But FOWL is also a word we use to describe birds. A lot of the birds we keep on farms are fowl, like chickens, ducks, and turkeys. Another word for birds we keep for eggs or food is Poultry.
Switch to the bottom of your mouth, and give your front teeth a brush too.
Here’s your next true or false:
Pigs are extremely dirty animals. So is this true or false? Is every pig a dirty pig? (SFX OINK)
The answer is… false! ((SFX FALSE)
Lots of people think pigs are a messy animal, but pigs are actually pretty tidy!
Pigs got a reputation for being dirty animals because pigs are often covered in mud. But pigs don't play in mud because they like getting dirty, it’s to cool off!
I’ll explain after you switch to the other side of the top of your mouth and don't brush too hard.
Sweating is the way that human bodies cool off, but pigs can't sweat. So instead pigs will jump into a nice cool mud puddle on a hot day to cool themselves off. (SFX SPLASH) Pigs are actually one of the smartest and cleanest animals that live around humans. Pigs won't pee or poop near their homes, and most pigs are as smart or smarter than dogs and cats!
Thats it for Chompers today, but come back tonight for more gross true or false. Until then,
