>> Rachel: Welcome back to Chompers, your morning and night toothbrushing show!

Did you figure out the answer to our riddle from this morning?

I’ll remind you what it was in a second, but first get your toothbrush in your mouth and start brushing on the top of your mouth on one side. READY?

>>KIDS: Three two one brush!

<SFX: YUM>

>> Rachel: Okay, here’s that riddle from this morning again.

I’m bad when I’m green,

I’m best when I’m black,

But don’t eat the pit

When you’re eating this snack!

What am I?

Know the answer? Shout it out in 3, 2, 1!

>> KIDS: An Avocado!

>> Rachel: Avocados are sometimes called “alligator pears” because of they have dark scaly looking skin, like an alligator … and they’re shaped like a pear!

Now switch that brush to the OTHER side of the top of your mouth! Make sure you’re brushing the inside, outside and chewing side of each tooth!

You might think they’re a vegetable -- but since avocados have a big seed right in the middle, we know that they are a delicious fruit!  Remember, fruit has seeds!

Ready for another riddle?

>> KIDS: YEAH!

I am a fungus,

But not quite like mold,

And just like grandpa

I get wrinkly when I’m old.

What am I?

(PAUSE)

Switch your brushing to your bottom teeth -- and make sure to reach all the way to the back of your mouth!

A fungus is kind of like a plant.  Now that you know that, let’s hear that riddle again.

I am a fungus,

But not quite like mold,

And just like grandpa

I get wrinkly when I’m old.

What am I?

Got an answer for me? Shout it out in 3, 2, 1!

>> KIDS: A Mushroom!

>> Rachel: Mushrooms.

Ok, switch your brushing to the other side of the bottom of your mouth and make sure you’re brushing each entire tooth!

Mushrooms are technically a fungus, which is sort of like a plant, but different.

Remember how plants use sunlight, water, and air to grow? A fungus doesn’t need sunlight to grow!

And some special mushrooms can even CREATE light!  They GLOW in the dark!

You’ve done a great job brushing! That’s all for Chompers tonight. So come back tomorrow for a fresh smile, and a fresh episode. And don’t forget to

>> KIDS: 3, 2, 1, spit!

(YUM!)
