>> RACHEL: It’s Musicians week, and today we’ll be asking you some soulful riddles about some of our favorite musicians!

Here’s your first one:

I played soul on the piano

Even though I was blind

and one of my most popular songs

Is “Georgia on my Mind”

Who am I?

[SOUL MUSIC BEGINS]

>> GROUP: Ray Charles!

>> RACHEL: Ray Charles!

Switch your brushing to the other side of the top of your mouth...

[SWITCH BELL]

>> RACHEL: -and brush those front teeth too.

Ray Charles was a legendary musician when your grandparents were kids. He took the music he heard at church, called gospel, and mixed it with some of the most popular music on the radio, called blues and jazz, and he made a new kind of music that had a whole new sound. They called the music “soul”! Ray Charles was also blind, which means he couldn’t see. But that didn’t stop him from writing some of the biggest hits of his time, like “Georgia on My Mind” and “Hit the Road Jack”!

[MUSIC ENDS]

>> RACHEL: Switch your Brushing to the bottom of your mouth,

[SWITCH BELL]

>> RACHEL: but don’t brush too hard!

Here’s your next Riddle:

I love to play the trumpet

And people say I’m one cool cat

I can sing and act in movies too

But my jazz solos are all that

Who am I?
