>> Rachel: It’s Space WEEK on Chompers (SFX ) and tonight we have the answer to our quiz from this morning.

(SFX QUIZ)

Which of these planets is the BIGGEST in our solar system? Is it

  1. Jupiter? (SFX GAS)
  2. Saturn? (SFX ICE)
  3. Or is it Mercury?! (SFX FIRE)

Ready for the answer?

First switch your brushing to the other side of the top of your mouth. (SFX SWITCH) And give me a drumroll by stomping your feet. (SFX drumroll)

The answer is… Jupiter! (SFX GAS)

Jupiter is by far the biggest planet in our solar system. And It’s so big, that you could fit all the other planets in the solar system inside of it!

When you look at Jupiter through a telescope, you can see beautiful swirling red clouds all over its surface. You can also see its famous great red Spot, a place on Jupiter where there are constant storms and hurricanes! (SFX STORM)

Switch your brushing to the bottom of your mouth, (SFX SWITCH) and don’t forget about those front teeth.

Jupiter may look beautiful in a telescope, but humans could never set foot on Jupiter.  That’s because scientists haven’t found any ground on Jupiter. (SFX HUH??) Jupiter is just a giant ball of gases, and doesn’t have a hard ground like Earth does.  (SFX huh?)

Switch your brushing to the other side of the bottom of your mouth, (SFX SWITCH) and brush your tongue too! (SFX TICKLE)

Another cool thing about Jupiter is how many moons it has. Jupiter has at least 69 moons -- that we know of!

Our planet, Earth, only has ONE moon! (SFX SAD TROMBONE)

Jupiter’s biggest moon is named Ganymede and it’s actually BIGGER than the planet Mercury!

That’s all for Chompers tonight, come back tomorrow for more spaced out facts and don’t forget to-
