Start brushing on the top of your mouth, and brush the inside, outside and chewing side of each tooth.

>> KIDS: 3, 2, 1 brush!

>> Rachel: Get ready to explore because it’s CITIES WEEK. We’re going to be learning about how cities work.

And we’re starting with a quiz. Today’s quiz question is:

What’s the largest number of people living in the same city? Is it:

37 hundred?

37 thousand?

OR 37 million?

To figure it out, let’s learn a little more about cities.

But first, switch your brushing to the other side of the top of your mouth, and brush the molars in the way back.

A city is a place where people live and work VERY close to each other. But a city isn’t a small place. A city is actually BIG, much bigger than a town, or a village. And there are many many many many many more people living in a city than in a town or a village.

Switch to the bottom of your mouth and brush the inside, outside and chewing side of each tooth.

A long long long time ago, people lived in villages. Then, because more and more people were living there, they needed more houses, more office buildings, more schools, more farms, more factories, and banks! So humans built something bigger than villages, they built TOWNS.

But then, more and more people came… and people needed something bigger!

Switch to the other side of the bottom of your mouth and brush your front teeth too.

When towns became too small, we created places bigger than towns, and we called them CITIES.

So, now that we know a little more about cities, it’s time to make a guess.

What’s the largest number of people living in the same city?

Is it:

37 hundred?

37 thousand?

OR 37 million?

Come back to Chompers tonight to find out. Until then, rinse before you
