[THEME SONG BEGINS]

>>RACHEL: Hi Chompions!  It’s time for more Chompers, your morning and night toothbrushing show.

It’s Your Questions Week. And so, we’re getting answers to your questions from our friend Jasmine.

But first, start on the top of your mouth on one side, and brush the inside, outside, and chewing side of each tooth.

>>KIDS: 3, 2, 1 brush!

[THEME SONG ENDS]

>>JASMINE: Alright  tonight’s question is from Katy! Katy what do you want to know?

>>KATY: I want to know how big is the world?

>>JASMINE: So Katy, we asked your question to our friend Jonathan. Jonathan has a show for grownups called Heavy-weight, so he’s used to answering BIG questions. So Jonathan - how big is the world?

>>JONATHAN: How big is the world? I guess in some ways it's probably the biggest thing that we can possibly fathom. I mean we look up at the sky and that's still the world. And we look at the oceans and that's the world.

>>JASMINE: Switch your brushing to the other side of the top of your mouth…

[SWITCH BELL]

>>JASMINE: and don’t brush too hard.

>>JONATHAN: And even if we look under a microscope all of a sudden we see a whole other world within our world from the grains of sand. To the molecules to the atoms. And it, I guess goes on and on forever. Kind of like the way that I'm going on and on right now.

>>JASMINE: Huh, yeah actually Johnathan, if can stop you there, I think Katy meant the WORLD as in the EARTH. so the question is really how big is the Earth?

>>JONATHAN: Oh how big is the earth. OK. OK. You see I was getting kind of poetic there I was sort of going off on a tangent but let me let me drop some facts. Let's get factual. OK.

>>JASMINE: Switch to the bottom of your mouth…

[SWITCH BELL]

>>JASMINE: and keep brushing.

>>JONATHAN: Truly the Earth is a really big place. Let's say you were to uh you know go to a hardware store and get yourself a good shovel, and you were to start digging, and you were to dig dig dig through the night. To get to the other side of the earth you would need to dig for seven thousand nine hundred and twenty six miles, bumper to bumper, all in a line going through the center of the earth.

To put it in terms that you guys might understand seven thousand nine hundred miles is let me just think about it. Carry the two, carry the five, time six....

[SWITCH BELL]

>>JASMINE: Switch to the other side of the bottom of your mouth, and give your tongue a brush too.

>>JONATHAN: …. That is over 900,000 school buses. It's a lot of school buses.

>>JASMINE: I see and how big it is compared to other planets?

>>JONATHAN: Right. OK. There are a lot of other planets in the solar system that are bigger than Earth. For instance Neptune. And then Uranus is even bigger than Neptune and Jupiter. The big daddy of planets is bigger than all of those. Earth is about double the size of Mars.

>>JASMINE: ohh interesting.

>>JONATHAN: Are we clear now do we all know how big the Earth is.

>>JASMINE: yes! I think so..

[THEME SONG BEGINS]

>>JASMINE: That’s it for Chompers today, but come back tonight for more answers to your questions. Until then…

>>KIDS: 3, 2, 1 spit!

[THEME SONG ENDS]
