Can you figure out who’s in charge on today's I Spy? Shout it out!

Where to Listen

>> Rachel: Rise and shine! It’s time for Chompers, you twice daily toothbrushing show!

Start brushing on the top of your mouth, and brush in little circles around each tooth.

>> KIDS: 3, 2, 1, brush!

>> Rachel: It’s In Charge Week! And today we’ve got some I Spies for you. I’ll describe someone in charge, and you have to guess who that person is!

Here’s your first I spy:

I’m in a crowded room. People are talking while they’re taking a seat. (SFX gavel / hammer) What’s that sound? Oh, I see a woman wearing a black robe. She’s sitting behind a long desk, and she’s pounding a wooden hammer on the top of it. (SFX gavel / hammer) Everyone is now silent, ready to listen to what she has to say.

Who do I Spy? Who is this woman?

Find out after you switch to the other side of the top of your mouth and keep brushing.

So Who do I Spy? Shout it out!

>> Group: A JUDGE!

>> Rachel: A judge is in charge of justice. Justice is what brings fairness to everyone. Judges don’t make the laws or the rules, but they help decide if someone has broken the law.

Judges run a courtroom, where people go to argue over whether a law has been broken. They might also decide how to make sure that person won’t break the rules again.

Switch to the bottom of your mouth, and brush the molars in the way back.

Here’s another I Spy:

I see a man who looks caught up in his thoughts. (SFX hmmm) He’s sitting on a solid red chair - it looks like a throne. Oh, I think I know who this guy is. He’s wearing a golden crown - a real one, not a paper one!

So who do you think it is? Who do I spy? Shout it out!

>> Group: A KING!

>> Rachel: Switch your brushing to the other side of the bottom of your mouth, but don't brush too hard.

A king is in charge of his country or KINGDOM! A long time ago, before your grandma’s grandma was born, lots of countries were ruled by royal families of queens, kings, princes, and princesses. But not many countries are ruled by kings and queens anymore.

The United Kingdom still has a queen, Queen Elizabeth the second. But she doesn’t rule the country alone. She has help from other people chosen by the people of the UK. And they are all in charge of the country. They share responsibilities, like a team. (SFX cool)

All right, you’re all done brushing, dear Chompions. Come back tonight but until then,

>> KIDS: 3, 2, 1 spit!
