>> Rachel: Oh hey, welcome back, it’s time for Chompers, your morning and night toothbrushing show.

Start brushing on the top of your mouth. Pick a side, and brush the inside, outside and chewing side of each tooth.

>>Kids: 3 , 2, 1 brush!

>> Rachel: It’s Sounds week, and tonight we’re back with more riddles for you. Ready?

>> ZAC: I’m all ears.

>> Rachel: Haha I get it.

Here’s your first riddle:

This is a measure of sound,

it helps us figure out,

just how far away you are,

if you give a shout

What is it?

>> GROUP: the speed of sound!

>> Rachel: The speed of sound.

Switch to the other side of the top of your mouth, and brush the molars in the way back.

The SPEED of sound is how fast the SOUND WAVES are going. You know how when you're driving in a car, the car is going a certain SPEED? (SFX CAR TIRES SCREECH) Well sound travels at a certain speed too, called the speed of sound.

And Sounds can travel really fast. Much faster than a car, Unless you have a car that can go over 700 miles per hour (SFX ZOOM)

Switch to the bottom of your mouth, and brush those front teeth too.

Here’s another riddle:

You won’t hear this happening

It’s just a quiet click

But bats, whales, and dolphins

Are very good at it.

What is this?

>> GROUP: Echolocation!

>> Rachel: Echolocation is a way to use SOUND to know what’s around.

Switch to the other side of the bottom of your mouth, but don’t brush too hard.

Whales, dolphins and bats use echolocation to find out what’s around them! They make a sound     and listen for the ECHO of the sound, to tell them what’s there.

Humans can also use echolocation! We created a technology called SONAR -- it uses sound to sense where objects are located. When a machine sends out a sonar sound, the sound bounces back, or echos (SFX Echo effect) -- and it tells the machine that there’s something nearby.

That’s it for Chompers, you did a good job brushing. Now all you have to do is,

>> KIDS: 3, 2, 1 spit!
