Talking is the most important part of any conversation.
So, is this true or false? Is talking the most important part of a conversation?
The answer is… False!
Switch your brushing to the other side of the top of your mouth, and give your tongue a brush too.
A conversation is when two people communicate with each other, but TALKING is only half of it! It’s just as important to LISTEN to what the other person is saying. Listening to what someone is saying means paying attention to the words they are using, not JUST being quiet while you wait for your turn to talk! It helps to be focused on what the other person is saying, and to try not to think about what you’ll say next.
Switch your brushing to the bottom of your mouth, and spit if you need to.
Ready for your last True or False?
Questions are a good way to start a conversation.
So, is this true or false? Are questions a good way to start a conversation?
The answer is…. True!
Asking questions is a great way to start a conversation with someone. But OPEN ENDED questions often get better answers. (HUH?) Open ended questions are something that you can’t just answer with a “YES” or “NO.”
I’ll tell you more about it after you switch your brushing to the other side of the bottom of your mouth, and keep on brushing.
If you ask someone, “Do you like brushing your teeth?” They might just say yes, and the conversation would be over. But if you use an OPEN ENDED question, like “What do you enjoy about brushing your teeth?”, you’ll get more information! Starting your questions with “what”, “how”, or “why” are great ways to make open ended questions, and learn more about your friends!
