>> RACHEL: Good morning, and welcome to Chompers! Your morning and night tooth brushing show. 


Start brushing on the top of your mouth on one side, and make little circles with your brush around each tooth. 


>> KIDS: 3, 2, 1 BRUSH!

>> RACHEL: It’s Dinosaur Week on Chompers, and today we’ve got some riddles to get you guessing. 


Ready for your first one?


I mostly look like bones

And you can find me in the ground

I could be a great discovery

You’ll learn lots when I am found!


What am I?


[MUSIC BEGINS]


>> GROUP: A Fossil


>> RACHEL: A Fossil! 


Fossils are one of the ways scientists learn about plants and animals of the past. I’ll tell you more about it after you Switch you brushing to the other side of the top of your mouth... 


[SWITCH BELL]


>> RACHEL: -and make sure you brush your molars in the way back. 


Fossil’s can be bones or eggs or even a footprint that gets stuck in the earth and buried over time. 


Sometimes those things get covered up by the dirt or mud...


[MUD SQUISHING] 


>> RACHEL: -and stay buried for hundreds of millions of years. Over time, more and more mud and dirt covers the fossils, and the bones end up deeper and deeper in the earth. 


[DESCENDING MARIMBA]


>> RACHEL: We may find these fossils by accident, but some people go fossil HUNTING to try to find them!

I spend all my time with rocks

What am I?

>> KIDS: A paleontologist! 


>> RACHEL: A Paleontologist.

A Paleontologist is a scientist who studies fossils. We know about what happened on earth before humans were around because of paleontologists! By studying fossils, rocks, and things that get trapped in the earth, paleontologists learn about what dinosaurs ate... 


[DINOSAUR CHOMP] 


>> RACHEL: -how big they were... 


[GIANT DINOSAUR FOOTSTEP]


>> RACHEL: -and how they protected themselves! 


One famous paleontologists was named Mary Anning, and she discovered a lot of dinosaur fossils in England!
