It’s History Week. And today we’re using our pretend time machine to travel back in time and explore history in Africa!

Here’s your first travel back in time:

[TIME MACHINE LANDS]

>> Rachel: Whoa the time machine took us really far back - to Ancient Egypt. I see thousands of people working to carry big blocks of stone to make a building … wait, I recognize these buildings! They still exist today!  They’re shaped like a triangle, have no windows, and they’re huuuuge.

Hey time machine, What are these?

Find out after you Switch your brushing to the other side of the top of your mouth…

[SWITCH BELL]

>> Rachel: -and brush the molars in the back too.

So time machine. What are these?

>> TIME MACHINE: PYRAMIDS

>> Rachel: The ancient Egyptians were really good architects, that means they were good at building things. These huge pyramids were for their pharaohs, or kings and queens. The ancient Egyptians believed in the heavens with several gods, and Some historians think that these pyramids were meant to be a magical machine for their kings and queens to rise into the heavens to join their gods.

Switch to the bottom of your mouth…

[SWITCH BELL]

>> Rachel: -and brush the inside, outside, and chewing side of each tooth.

Ok let’s travel through time again…

[TIME MACHINE LANDS]

>> Rachel: I’m still in Ancient Egypt! I see a woman hiding inside a rolled up carpet. Her servants are carrying the carpet to a man. I recognize that man, it’s Julius Caesar! The woman is now coming out of the carpet! Caesar looks astonished!

So time machine, who is this woman?

>> TIME MACHINE: CLEOPATRA!

>> Rachel: Switch to the other side of the bottom of your mouth…

[SWITCH BELL]

>> Rachel: -but don’t brush too hard.

Cleopatra was a queen of Egypt. When she arrived in that carpet, she was in a fight with her brother - but not a normal fight - a fight about who would rule Egypt! Cleopatra and Julius Caesar fell in love, and Caesar used his big army to help Cleopatra become queen of Egypt again.  Let that be a lesson to little brothers everywhere!

[THEME SONG BEGINS]
