>> Rachel: Welcome back, it’s time for Chompers, your morning and night toothbrushing show.

Start brushing on the top of your mouth on one side, and brush the inside, outside and chewing side of each tooth.

>> KIDS: 3, 2, 1 brush!

>> Rachel: It’s Cities Week, and tonight we’ve got the answer to the quiz from this morning.

Our question was:

What’s the largest number of people living in the same city?

Is it...

37 hundred?

37 thousand?

OR 37 million?

Ready for the answer?

>> KIDS: Yes!

>> Rachel: First, switch your brushing to the other side of the top of your mouth, and give me a drumroll by stomping your feet.

The answer is….over 37 MILLION!

>> Kids: WOW

>> Rachel: Yeah man that’s a crowd! 37 Million people is a LOT of people. Researchers think that 37M is the largest number of people living in the same city, and the small towns outside of the city, called suburbs. That city and it’s suburbs are in Japan and are called Tokyo.

I’ll explain after you switch to the bottom of your mouth, and brush the molars in the way back.

Cities are all over the world. Today, more than half of all the people in the world live in cities. The other people live in villages and towns, or in places where there aren’t a lot of people.

Many people in cities live in apartment buildings. That’s because there are way too many people for everyone to live in houses. That would take up too much space!

Switch to the other side of the bottom of your mouth, and brush your front teeth too.

Apartment buildings can provide homes for more people than a house can.  It’s like stacking a bunch of houses on top of each other!  So people are not only living next to each other but above and below each other. Be quiet, the downstairs neighbors might be sleeping!

That’s it for Chompers tonight, great job brushing! Come back tomorrow for more city exploration, and make sure you rinse before you

>> KIDS: 3, 2, 1 spit!
