[THEME SONG BEGINS]

>> RACHEL:  Play that funky music Chompions, because it’s time for more Chompers, your morning and night toothbrushing show!

Start brushing on the top of your mouth, but don’t brush too hard.

>> KIDS: 3, 2, 1 brush!

[THEME SONG ENDS]

>> RACHEL:  It’s Musicians Week, and tonight we have more musical true or false for you. We’ll say something, and you have to decide if it’s true-

[DING]

>> RACHEL:  or false.

[BUZZER]

>> RACHEL:  Here’s your first one:

Anyone can be a musician.

[MUSIC BEGINS]

>> RACHEL:  So is this true of false? Can anyone can be a musician?

The answer is… TRUE!

[DING]

>> RACHEL:  Anyone can become a musician, it just takes practice! I’ll tell you all about practice after you-

Switch to the other side of the top of your mouth...

[SWITCH BELL]

>> RACHEL:  -and brush the molars in the way back, too.

Just like playing a sport...

[BASEBALL SOUNDS]

>> RACHEL:  -or teaching your dog a new trick...

[BARK]

>> RACHEL: the more you practice playing an instrument, the better you become! Musicians practice all the time to become better and better at playing music, and sometimes call that practice “rehearsal”. Just like anything else you want to be good at, all you have to do is practice, and not give up if it gets difficult!

[MUSIC ENDS]

Switch your brushing to the bottom of your mouth...

[SWITCH BELL]

>> RACHEL:  -and brush your front teeth, too.

Here’s another true or false for you.

Your voice is an instrument.

[MUSIC BEGINS]

>> RACHEL:  So is that true or false? Is your voice an instrument?

The answer is… TRUE!

[DING]

>> RACHEL:  The human voice is an instrument, and lots of our favorite musicians use it to make music.

[CHILD SINGING]

>> RACHEL:  Switch your brushing to the other side of the bottom of your mouth...

[SWITCH BELL]

>> RACHEL:  -and brush in little circles around each tooth.

[MUSIC ENDS]

>> RACHEL: When we think of musicians, we often picture someone playing a piano…

[PIANO]

>> RACHEL: or jamming out with a guitar...

[GUITAR]

>> RACHEL: -but singers are musicians too! Singers, sometimes called vocalists, are people who use their voice as an instrument. Just like with other instruments, vocalists have to practice. It sounds like this…

[SINGER SINGS A SCALE]

[THEME SONG BEGINS]
