>> Rachel: It’s Cities Week, and today we’ve got some true or false for you. I’ll say something, and if you think it’s true, give a thumbs up. If you think it’s false, give a thumbs down.

Here’s your first true or false.

Cities ALWAYS have cars in them.

So is that true or false?

Do cities ALWAYS have cars in them?

The answer is… FALSE.

A city CAN be car-free.

I’ll tell you more after you switch to the other side of the top of your mouth, and brush the inside, outside and chewing side of each tooth

There are lots of ways to get around a city! People can get around on foot, by bike, by bus, or subway! More and more cities around the world are turning their centers -- or downtowns -- into car-free areas.

Cities that have car-free centers have less pollution than other cities. That means less yucky stuff in the air.  It’s healthier to live in a car-free city, and better for our planet.

Switch to the bottom of your mouth, and keep brushing.

Here’s your next true or false:

Some cities have bike highways.

So is that true or false? Is there such a thing as a BIKE HIGHWAY?

The answer is… TRUE! Some cities like Copenhagen, in the country Denmark, have bike highways called super bikeways.

Switch to the other side of the bottom of your mouth, and give your tongue a brush too.

The super bikeways of Copenhagen stretch from the center of the city to outside of the city. This way, people who live outside the city, in the suburbs, can bike to their work downtown. Bike highways are nice for cyclists because they don’t have to worry about sharing the road with cars or pedestrians, so it makes traveling by bike safer and more fun!

That's it for Chompers today, but come back tonight for more true or false.

Until then,
