>> Rachel: (YAHN) Hoo I’m almost ready for bed! But before we hit the hay, it's time to brush with Chompers, your morning and night toothbrushing show.

Start brushing on the top of your mouth. Pick a side, and brush the inside, outside and chewing side of each tooth

>> KIDS: 3, 2, 1 brush!

>> Rachel: It’s Inventors Week, and tonight our inventor jokes will make you a laughing MACHINE!

Here’s your first one:

What do you call the guy who invented denim pants?

>> KIDS: What?

>> Rachel: A JEAN-IUS

Denim pants are one of the most popular types of pants around, but you might know them by another name: Blue Jeans! Levi Strauss and Jacob Davis are the guys who are famous for creating the first pair of blue jeans, and you can still buy a pair of LEVIS today!

Switch to the other side of the top of your mouth, but don't brush too hard.

Here’s your next joke:

Why did no one like hanging out with the Elisha Otis, inventor of the elevator?

>> Kids: WHY?

>> Rachel: Because he was always so up and down.

(SFX RIMSHOT/Ding Ding, Going down)

People have been using ropes to lift things up and down since ancient times, but the elevators that we use TODAY were made possible by a man named Elisha Otis.

I'll tell you more after you switch to the bottom of your mouth, and keep brushing.

Back in the 1800’s, people started using machine powered elevators to lift heavy things up and down. But there was one big problem: It wasn't very safe. Those elevators were held up by cables, and if those cables broke, the whole thing would come crashing down. (SFX SLIDE WHISTLE, BOING CRASH). Elisha Otis invented the first elevator safety brake. If the elevators cables broke, Otis’s device would stop the elevator in its tracks, and keep it from falling.

Switch to the other side of the bottom of your mouth, and brush the molars in the way back.

Here’s one last joke before you go:

Why did Robert Goddard invent the rocket?

>> KIDS: WHY?

>> Rachel: He wanted something that was out of this world!

(SFX RIMSHOT/ROCKET)

That’s it for Chompers tonight, you did a great job brushing. Maybe tonight you’ll dream of the next big invention! We’ll back back tomorrow with more Inventors Week, but until then, rinse with water and

>> Kids: 3, 2, 1, spit!
