>>RACHEL: It’s Sports week and today we’re working out your brain muscles with some riddles.

Here’s your first one:

Pulling bow strings tight

Making arrows fly

The goals is to hit the target

Right in the middle of the bullseye

What is this sport? Shout it out.

>>GROUP: ARCHERY!

>>RACHEL: ARCHERY!

Switch to the other side of the top of your mouth…

[SWITCH BELL]

>>RACHEL: -and brush the molars in the way back.

Archery is a sport where you shoot arrows using a bow. There are a lot of types of bows, but all bows have a string that is pulled SUPER tight. When an archer -- that’s the person who’s DOING archery -- wants to shoot an arrow, they pull that bow string…

[STRETCH]

>>RACHEL: -aim their arrows, and let go…

[ZOOM - FLYING ARROW]

In competitions, Archers try to hit the center of the target, called a bullseye.

Switch to the bottom of your mouth…

[SWITCH BELL]

>>RACHEL: -and brush in little circles all the way around each tooth.

Here’s your next riddle:

This sport is played on Ice

Players try to hit the puck

Hoping that they'll score a goal

Using wooden sticks -- and a little luck

What sport is this?

[MUSIC BEGINS]

>>GROUP: HOCKEY

>>RACHEL: Hockey is a sport played on ice, where players skate around try to hit a small flat black disc called a puck.

Switch to the other side of the bottom of your mouth…

[SWITCH BELL]

>>RACHEL: -and brush your front teeth too.

In Hockey, players skate around, and hit the puck with hockey sticks.  They want to get the puck into the other team’s net … to score a goal!

Hockey teams have a player called a goalkeeper, or goalie. The goalie stands in front of the net, and tries to keep the other team from scoring.
