>>RACHEL: It’s sports week and tonight we have the answer to the quiz

[QUIZ THEME]

>>RACHEL: -from this morning.

What is the MOST POPULAR sport in the world?

Is it Basketball?

[BASKETBALL DRIBBLE AND SWISH]

>>RACHEL: Cricket

[RACKET WHOOSH AND SMACK]

>>RACHEL: Or Soccer?

[REFEREE’S WHISTLE]

>>RACHEL: Ready for the answer? Give me a drumroll by stomping your feet…

[DRUMROLL]

>>RACHEL: -the answer is… SOCCER

[SOCCER CHANT]

>>RACHEL: Switch to the other side of the top of your mouth…

[SWITCH BELL]

>>RACHEL: -and give your tongue a brush.

>>RACHEL: Soccer, also known as football, is the most popular sport in the world, with BILLIONS of fans.

[CROWD CHEERING]

>>RACHEL: A part of what makes soccer great is how easy it is for anyone to play. All you need is a ball, an open field, and a couple of friends! To be good at soccer, you have to be able to run for a LOOOONG time. Professional soccer games go for 90 minutes! That’s how long a whole movie is.

Switch to the bottom of your mouth…

[SWITCH BELL]

>>RACHEL: -and brush your front teeth too.

Another thing that soccer players love to practice is JUGGLING. But this isn’t the type of juggling where you throw a bunch balls in the air and keep tossing them up with your hands. In SOCCER, juggling happens with your feet and head.

[BOING]

>>RACHEL: Players practice how long they can keep the soccer ball from hitting the ground, by kicking it up with their feet, or bouncing it off the top of their heads.

[DOING]

>>RACHEL: Switch to the other side of the bottom of your mouth…

[SWITCH BELL]

>>RACHEL: -and but don’t brush too hard.

The world’s biggest soccer competition is the WORLD CUP. Every four years, countries from all over send their best players to compete for the title of World Cup champions. Right now the women's World Cup is being played in France

[THEME SONG BEGINS]

>>RACHEL: I think we reached our GOAL with tonight's Chompers, so come back tomorrow for more sports and until then…

>>KIDS: 3,2, 1 spit!

[THEME SONG ENDS]

>>RACHEL: Chompers is a production of Gimlet Media.
