>> RACHEL:  Good morning! It’s time for Chompers, your morning and night toothbrushing show.

It’s Musicians Week. And in today’s episode we’re going to hear from musicians from around the world.

But first start brushing on the top of your mouth. Pick a side, and brush the inside, outside and chewing side of each tooth. And make sure you listen for the bells...

[SWITCH BELL]

>> RACHEL: -that tell you when to switch your brushing to another part of your mouth.

>> KIDS: 3, 2, 1 brush!

>> REBECCA: Hi! My name is Rebecca Young. I play viola with the NY Philharmonic.

[CLASSICAL VIOLA BEGINS]

>> REBECCA: And I am the host of the NY Philharmonic’s Very Young People’s Concerts. My favorite thing about being a musician is I get to run around the stage–sometimes I tap dance, sometimes I sing. I get to do all sorts of silly things. It’s just a whole lot of fun!

[CLASSICAL VIOLA ENDS]

>> AUDREY: Hi! My name is Audrey Zee Whitesides and I play guitar and bass.

[ROCK BASS LINE BEGINS]

What I like about being a musician is it can bring people together. You can really make a lot of new friends through music!

[SOFT ROCK MUSIC BEGINS]

>> DAOUD: My name is Daoud Tyler Ameen, and I play in the bands Bad Moves and Art Sorority.  What I like about being a musician is it’s a great way to make friends, especially if you’ve just moved or changed schools and you’re kind of the new kid in town. One thing musicians always need is other people to play with.

>> DIANA: My name is Diana Oh, and I am a singer, I write a lot of songs, sometimes the inspiration hits at 4 in the morning, and I shoot up awake, and I get it all out of me. And it usually starts with a melody, and then I fit it to some chords. And then bada bing bada boom, a song is born.

[MUSICAL THEATRE MUSIC BEGINS]

>> SAM: Hey everyone! My name is Sam Bagala. I travel all around the country playing keyboard in a pit orchestra for a musical called Hamilton. Being a musician in the pit orchestra is really fun, because it’s all about working together with your band mates in the pit and the actors on stage (...) to tell important stories.

[MUSICAL THEATRE MUSIC ENDS]

>> IBRAHIMA: My name is Ibrahima Johane, and I am from Africa, Senegal. And I make Djembe, saba, dun dun, talking drums, and I teach.

[DJEMBE DRUMS BEGIN]

[SWITCH BELL]

>> IBRAHIMA: I love djembe, because it can speak to you, it can talk to you. That’s what everybody likes about djembe. Now everybody likes djembe.

[DJEMBE DRUMS END]

[PIANO MUSIC BEGINS]

>> JACK: My name is Jack Mitchell, I play piano and write songs for the Story Pirates podcast. I love being a musician because No matter where we live, how old we are, or what language we speak, music brings us all together, and the best part is there is no limit to the amount of music that can exist in the world. So let’s start making some more!
