>> RACHEL: Welcome back, it’s time for Chompers, your morning and night toothbrushing show.

Start brushing on the top of your mouth on one side, and brush the inside, outside, and chewing side of each tooth.

>> KIDS: 3, 2, 1 brush!

>> RACHEL: It’s Feelings Week, and tonight we’ve got the answer to the quiz (SFX QUIZ) from this morning. So I want to hear some excitement! (SFX yay)

Our question was:

How many feelings can humans have?

Is it

5?

100?

OR

35,000?

Ready for the answer?

>> ZAC: Oh Yes! I can’t wait!

(DRUMROLL)

>> RACHEL: The answer is…. We don’t know how many feelings humans can have.

>> Kids: Huh?

>> RACHEL: I’ll tell you more after you switch your brushing to the other side of the top of your mouth, (SFX BELL) and give your tongue a brush, too.

Humans have many more feelings than just 5, but we can’t really count feelings. There are too many. And sometimes they overlap! Like you can feel happy and sad at the same time.

We can put WORDS to our feelings. Happy, sad, joyful, awkward, sleepy, curious, amazed, relaxed, proud, safe. But it’s not always easy to find the right word. So when we can’t find the word, we put our feelings into categories or groups.

Switch to bottom of your mouth, (SFX BELL) and don’t forget your front teeth.

For example, there are feelings that make us feel bad and feelings that make us feel good. That’s two categories or groups of feelings.

Bad feelings are the ones we don’t like. Like the feeling of being angry (SFX), hungry (SFX), or scared (SFX).

Good feelings are the ones we like. Like the feeling of being happy (SFX giggle), relaxed (SFX sigh), or loved (SFX cartoon kiss).

Good and bad feelings come and go - up and down - sometimes a bit like a rollercoaster. (SFX whistle up and down)

Switch to the other side of the bottom of your mouth, and make sure you’re reaching those molars in the back

Sometimes we feel something and we don’t know exactly why. And suddenly, we’re stomping our feet (SFX) or laughing for no reason (SFX laugh)! In these moments, we can stop and ask ourselves - What’s that feeling? What is it about? And we can notice and say: I’m angry because I heard something that made me mad! Or I’m happy because I remembered something nice! Or I don’t know what it is but it feels bad - or it feels good.

[YAWN] - Oh! That must be me feeling sleepy! So that’s it for Chompers tonight! Come back tomorrow,  until then you

>> KIDS: 3, 2, 1 spit!
