Transcript

[THEME SONG BEGINS]

>> RACHEL: Good morning, it’s time to get rockin’ with more Chompers, your morning and night toothbrushing show.

Start brushing on the top of your mouth, on one side, and brush in little circles around each tooth.

>> KIDS: 3, 2, 1 brush!

[THEME SONG ENDS]

>> RACHEL: Its Musicians Week, and today we’ve got some jokes about musicians that really rock.

[ROCK MUSIC RIFF]

>> RACHEL: Here’s your first one:

What band always gets invited to the royal ball?

>> KIDS: What?

>> RACHEL: QUEEN!

[RIMSHOT AND LAUGHTER]

[ROCK MUSIC STARTS]

>> RACHEL: Queen was a popular rock band known for epic songs like We are the Champions. Queen’s lead singer was a man named Freddie Mercury, and he was actually born with four extra teeth! We are the Champions? More like we are the Chompions!

[ROCK MUSIC ENDS]

>> RACHEL: Switch your brushing to the other side of the top of your mouth...

[SWITCH BELL]

>> RACHEL: -and brush the molars in the way back.

Here’s your next joke:

Who’s the spiciest band in rock and roll?

>> KIDS: Who is it?

>> RACHEL: The Red Hot Chili Peppers!

[RIMSHOT AND LAUGHTER]

[ROCK MUSIC STARTS]

>> RACHEL: The Red Hot Chili Peppers are a rock band from California.  And one of the musicians in the band is a Flea. Oh no wait, no, no, no, actually it’s a man NAMED Flea. Flea is the bass player for the Red Hot Chilli Peppers, but he also plays the trumpet, guitar, keyboard.

Switch your brushing to bottom of your mouth...

[SWITCH BELL]

>> RACHEL: -and give your tongue a brush too.

Here’s another joke:

Knock knock.

>> GROUP: Who’s there?

>> RACHEL: The Who.

>> GROUP: The Who, who?

>> RACHEL: The band the Who.

>> GROUP: The band the Who, Who?

>> RACHEL: Nevermind.

[MUSIC STARTS]

>> RACHEL: So, who are the WHO? The WHO are a popular British rock band known for songs like “My Generation” and “Pinball Wizard.” The Who was also one of the first bands to smash a guitar on stage!

[GUITAR SMASH]

>> RACHEL: Now, it’s become kind of a rock and roll tradition to smash your guitar. But you shouldn’t smash anything unless your grownup says it’s ok.

[MUSIC ENDS]

>> RACHEL: Switch your brushing to the other side of the bottom of your mouth,

[SWITCH BELL]

>> RACHEL: -and brush your front teeth too.

Here’s one last joke before you go:

Why couldn't the band stop falling down the hill?

>> KID: Why?

>> RACHEL: Because they were Rolling Stones.

[XYLOPHONE DESCENDING]

[MUSIC BEGINS]

>> RACHEL: The Rolling Stones are ANOTHER British rock band, like Queen and The Who.

>> GROUP: The Who, Who?

>> RACHEL: Oh, never mind.

[MUSIC ENDS]

[THEME SONG BEGINS]

>> RACHEL: That’s it for Chompers today, but come back tonight to rock out to more jokes. Until then,

>> KIDS: 3, 2, 1 spit!

[THEME SONG ENDS]

>> RACHEL: Chompers is a production of Gimlet Media.
