Can you figure out what these sounds have to do with money? Put your ears to the test!

Where to Listen

>> Rachel: Good morning, it’s time for Chompers, your morning and night toothbrushing show.

Start your brushing on the top of your mouth on one side, and brush in little circles around each tooth.

>> Kids: 3, 2, 1 brush!

>> Rachel: It’s Money Week and today we’re playing what’s that sound (SFX). We’ll play a sound that has to do with MONEY, and you have to guess what it is.

Here’s your first one:

Did you get it? Here it is one more time:

So, what’s that sound?

>> Rachel: Typing!! But what does typing have to do with MONEY? I’ll tell you after you-

Switch your brushing to the other side of the top of your mouth (SFX), and don’t forget the molars in the way back.

Computers are really important for keeping track of money.  All of the money that you put in a bank is kept in what’s called your ACCOUNT … and the bank’s computers keep track of your account.  And at home, you can use a computer to find out how much money is in your account.

You can also use a computer to buy things online .. and you can use a computer to send money to someone else.  Computers and money go hand in hand!

Switch to the bottom of your mouth (SFX), pick a side, and brush the inside, outside and chewing side of each tooth.

Here’s another sound to guess:

Whoa. Here’s that sound one more time

So, what’s that sound?

>> Rachel: Yup, that’s right - an ATM!

Switch to the other side of the bottom of your mouth, and make little circles with your brush around each tooth.

Remember, an ATM is a machine you can go to get cash that you’ve put away in the bank.

But how does the machine know which money is yours?

There are two ways!

When you go to the ATM, you put in your card.  The card tells the computer who you are, and how much money you have

After you put in your card, you TYPE in your PIN into the machine. (SFX) A PIN is a special number that only know, so only you can get your money! And when you type it into an ATM it sounds like …

That's it for Chompers today.  Rinse with water before you

>> KIDS: 3, 2, 1 spit!
