>> Rachel: Good morning! It time for Chompers, your morning and night tooth brushing show.

It’s Transportation Week (SFX BOAT BELL).  So throw on your life vest because today we are DIVING INTO water transportation! (SFX SPLASH)

So pick a side on the top of your mouth, make those circles around the outside, inside and chewing side of each tooth and ...

>> KIDS: 3, 2, 1 brush!

>> Rachel: Boats come in all different sizes.  They can be really big or really tiny.  Let’s explore some of the types of boats that there are!

One of the SMALLEST types of boats is a KAYAK. Kayaks sit right on top of the water and kayakers use a PADDLE to move themselves through the water. (SFX PADDLE)

Kayaks originally come from Greenland, where they were used for hunting and fishing. The word “kayak” means “hunter’s boat.”

Switch to the other side of the top of your mouth.  But don’t brush too hard!

One of the BIGGEST types of boats is a CRUISE SHIP (SFX CRUISE SHIP HORN). Cruise ships are boats that people take vacations on!  They’re like floating hotels -- and they’re huge! But since a cruise ship is also a boat, it can also travel from place to place! So you can fall asleep in one city and wake up in another!

Cruise ships have rooms for people to sleep in, restaurants to eat in, stores to go shopping in, and even rides, like at a carnival! (SFX CARNIVAL RIDE)

Switch to the bottom of your mouth. Pick a side, and make sure you brush your front teeth too!

That is a whole bunch of stuff to keep in ship shape, so a cruise ship has what’s called a CREW!

The crew lives and works on the ships for months at a time, traveling all over the world. The crew includes engineers that take care of the ship’s engine (SFX ENGINE), service staff that keep the ship clean, and a captain who’s the boss of the ship. (SFX THIS IS YOUR CAPTAIN)

Switch your brushing to the other side of the bottom of your mouth, brushing in small circles all the way around each tooth.

Tiny kayaks, enormous cruise ships: these boats are so different, but what they have in common is that they both float. (SFX BLUB)

Objects that FLOAT are things that can sit on top of the water, and wont sink

Things like rubber duckies (SFX wheeze), apples (SFX chomp) and beach balls (SFX AIR) all float.

While you’re out and about today, look around for OBJECTS THAT CAN FLOAT.

And come back for chompers tonight to find out more about water transport and other fun floatables

You’ve done a great job and we hope you have SPLASHING day.

And don’t forget to

>> KIDS: 3, 2, 1 spit!
