>> KIDS: 3, 2, 1 brush

>> Rachel: It’s Inventors Week, and today we’ve got some riddles to puzzle your brain. (SFX) Here’s your first one:

I have a face and hands

But I’m used to tell the TIME

I’m a machine that’s built with gears

And each hour you hear my chime

What invention is this? Shout it out

>> GROUP: A CLOCK

>> Rachel: Switch your brushing to the other side of the top of your mouth, and brush your molars in the back too.

Mechanical clocks have been around for hundreds of years, helping humans tell the time. But the person remembered for building the first clock in the  United States was a man named Benjamin Banneker.

Benjamin was a farmer, scientist and mathematician who lived in the 1700’s. He not only built America’s first chiming clock, he also helped design the nation's capital, Washington DC.

Switch to the bottom of your mouth, and brush your front teeth too.

Here’s your next riddle:

This snack is thin and salty

With dip it's fun to eat

We make it from potatoes

It’s a yummy crunch treat

What is this riddle about? Shout it out!

>> GROUP: CHIPS

>> Rachel: Switch to the other side of bottom of your mouth, and make little circles with your brush around each tooth

Potato chips are a delicious snack (SFX Crunch/Yum!) The story goes that they were invented by chef George Crum by accident! Crum was making french fries, but they kept coming out soggy. (SFX YUCK) So he tried slicing the potatoes extra thin, and frying them for a long time. Voila! (SFX TADA) The potato chip was born!

That’s it for Chompers today, but we’ll be back tonight with more riddles. Until then,

>> KIDS: 3, 2, 1 spit!
