>> RACHEL: Welcome back!  It’s time for Chompers, your morning and night toothbrushing show.

It’s Musicians Week. And tonight we’re back with musicians from around the world. Let’s hear what they like about being a musician, but first, start brushing on the top of your mouth. Pick a side, and brush the inside, outside and chewing side of each tooth. Remember to listen for this sound...

[SWITCH BELL]

>> RACHEL: -and when you hear it switch your brushing.

>> KIDS: 3 2 1 brush!

>> RACHEL: Hi everyone! My name is Peter Mawanga, I am a musician from Africa, Malawi, and I love being a musician because I get to travel the world, and share music like Twinkle Twinkle, Little Star in my own language, like this:

>> LEAH: My name is Leah Gage. And I’m a musician and songwriter from Washington, D C. My favorite thing about being a musician is playing drums.

[DRUMMING BEGINS]

>> LEAH: I always tell people, “if you can dance, you can play the drums, you just make your right hand go with your left foot and your left hand to go with your right foot. and eventually you’re playing the drums. And anything can be a drum, you can also use your desk, at table, pots and pans. Even your dog’s butt!

[DOG HOWLS]

>> DEVON: Hi I’m Devon Guinn, and I’m a beatboxer. That means I make drum noises and music just using my mouth, like this:

[BEAT BOXING]

Devon: What I love about being a beatbox musician is that I can make music wherever I go

>> MEGAN: My name is Megan Dorn and I am a songwriter. What I like about being a musician is that I get to tell stories; incredible stories sometimes silly stories, all in one three minute song.

>> TONE: Hi there, my name is Tone Johansen, and I have been leading a bluegrass jam for over 15 years. Lots of players of all ages come and sing and play together. And what I love the most is that music is just the way that our spirits talk. Here’s an old song for you.
